Turmeric is a yellow culinary spice and functional herb. The herb's active ingredient are called curcuminoids. Traditional uses include reducing inflammation, improving digestion, treating pain, and reducing arthritis symptoms. Turmeric root has liver-protecting properties and is a popular herb for cleansing and detoxing the body. 

Ashwagandha is a member is also known as "Indian Winter Cherry" or "Indian Ginseng." It is called an adaptogen and for its ability help the body to adapt to stress. It can relieve the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and inflammatory conditions like arthritis. It is also promoted in Ayurveda as a way to boost the immune system, brain function, fertility, and sexual health in both men and women. 

Swertia, a highly regarded herb, is also known as "bitter tonic."  It is used to treat conditions such as skin diseases, fever, and respiratory infections. Other uses include blood purification, digestive disorders, and pain relief. The whole plant has healing benefits but the root is the most potent part. Swertia Chirata has traditionally been used in folk medicine by infusing the roots in boiling water. Some people add cloves and cinnamon to the decoction for more healing properties. 

The leaf of the papaya tree is also steeped in boiling water to make a potent healing tea. The leaves as well as the fruit are loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial compounds. This is why leaves have been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. for treating conditions like dengue, malaria, and low immune function. 

Cissus quadrangularis is a member of the grape family. It is most often used in Ayurveda for healing broken bones. A paste prepared from the stem and leaves is applied at the site of the fractured to speed the recovery. The extract of the plant has recently become popular with bodybuilders for its anabolic capability as well as its ability to burn fat.
